Pre-war
Early European motorcycles, flat-tank machines and elegant pre-war engineering from the golden beginnings of motorcycling.
Explore Pre-war →Bramwell Motorcycles presents historically significant vintage and antique motorcycles connected to Vietnam and the wider Indochina region - machines shaped by time, mechanical ingenuity and survival.
We believe an old motorcycle is more than an object of transportation. It is a surviving piece of engineering, craftsmanship and human history - carrying the marks of the people, places and decades through which it passed.
From the elegant machines of the pre-war era to the motorcycles that survived the upheavals of the twentieth century, every period carries its own story.

At the dawn of the gasoline age, Clarence C. Bramwell documented the emerging world of gasoline-powered motor vehicles in his pioneering work The Construction of a Gasoline Motor Vehicle.
More than a century later, that fascination with mechanical engineering remains as powerful as ever. Bramwell Motorcycles takes its name and inspiration from that pioneering spirit - a respect for machines built when engineering was tangible, mechanical and deeply human.
We do not claim to have existed since 1900. Instead, we honor the spirit of those early pioneers by seeking out motorcycles that have survived their own extraordinary journeys through time.
The Bramwell name is inspired by the pioneering mechanical spirit of the early gasoline age. It represents curiosity, engineering and the belief that machines deserve to be understood - not merely used.
Our identity is inspired by historical engineering rather than presented as a claim of continuous business operation since 1900.
A historically significant motorcycle deserves more than a sales description. Its identity, condition, history and restoration journey should be documented as carefully as the machine itself.
Where possible, document frame and engine numbers, known history, acquisition background and the motorcycle's journey through Vietnam or Indochina.
Record significant restoration work and preserve before-and-after imagery so future collectors can understand what has been changed, retained or rebuilt.
Each collector motorcycle can be accompanied by a dedicated heritage record documenting its identity, history and preservation journey.
Not every historic motorcycle should look brand new. Original finishes, honest wear and mechanical authenticity can be part of a machine's story.
Recently discovered motorcycles and project machines retaining their original character and offering the collector the opportunity to complete the journey.
Preserving the visual character of an older machine while selectively improving mechanical, electrical or practical elements for enjoyable operation.
A carefully considered restoration approach intended to return the motorcycle as closely as possible to its appropriate historical presentation.
A collector should know more than the make, model and year. Whenever information is available, we believe the story behind a motorcycle should remain part of the motorcycle.
Frame numbers, engine numbers, model information and available historical references.
Available information regarding where and how the motorcycle was discovered or acquired.
Documentation of major preservation, mechanical or restoration work where applicable.
Before-and-after imagery and detailed photographs help preserve the motorcycle's visual history.
Explore the people, engineering, motorcycles and forgotten stories behind the machines of the twentieth century.
From European pre-war motorcycles to post-war scooters and early Japanese machines, Vietnam became an unlikely archive of mechanical history.
